about

As usual, these pieces were all recorded live. The twist is that this time, I performed them before soundcheck while on tour this Fall with Matt Nathanson, I found that performing these loops and manipulations in wide open, empty spaces made me more patient than when I do them in my studio. Hearing -- and feeling -- the sounds echoing throughout the rooms, it was as though they asserted themselves in the moments and I found myself letting the loops rebound for minutes while I just stood there.

The result is a more contemplative and more ambient record than Day and Night Songs. I was also at the mercy of local electricity and the fact that people had to do their jobs while I puttered around, so these are ambient in a few senses of the word.

Caution: Not for everyone.

about

Aaron Tap Los Angeles, California

Aaron Tap is terrible at branding. So he releases shit from both his current band Frank Shirts and, lately, the resurrected Boston trio Betty Goo, and maybe someday even a solo record. There are themes, yeah, but mostly it's whatever spirit moves the music that decides what name it goes by.

Aaron also plays and sings with Matt Nathanson, the Paula Kelley Orchestra, and Populuxe.
