Bury Me By The Pemigewasset

by Betty Goo

/

about

Inspired by one of those difficult conversations with a parent. And by autumns in New Hampshire. And certainly in no small part by the solemn and quiet COVID years, this song came out in one afternoon. I demoed the whole thing, returned the following day to get the solo down, and then pledged one day to "record it for real." Went back to it a year or so later and realized it was done.

lyrics

All of a summer Saturday
We marched through the forest and the leaves
I know I complained all the time
But I loved getting lost with you
And now, though I see them through the haze
These hills are truly not the same

So when I'm gone
Pour my bones into the river
Let the freezing water wash me clean once more
Clean once more

It's no secret
I hate the suburbs now as then
Cocoons of order and of sleep
It seemed like the 80s were the worst
Still fear trickles down, it trickles

And when I'm gone
Pour my bones into the river
Let the freezing water wash me clean once more
Clean once more

The end may be outside your door but that's ok
The end may be outside your door but that's ok
It's ok, it's ok
It's ok
It's beautiful

about

Aaron Tap Los Angeles, California

Aaron Tap is terrible at branding. So he releases shit from both his current band Frank Shirts and, lately, the resurrected Boston trio Betty Goo, and maybe someday even a solo record. There are themes, yeah, but mostly it's whatever spirit moves the music that decides what name it goes by.

Aaron also plays and sings with Matt Nathanson, the Paula Kelley Orchestra, and Populuxe.
